RTORRENT 2.0.00 has been released There are now a total of four different methods to interact with RTORRENT - Drap and drop torrents into the rtorrent share
- shell access via ssh to the rtorrent executable
- web access via built in wtorrent (alpha)
- remote access via java application ntorrent
Let the games (download sessions) begin have fun getmythe PS: I might be a good idea to install MOBLOCK as well.

I apologise for my lack of understanding but is it possible for someone to offer up a step by step guide to installing and using this RTORRENT module please?
I installed it last night, created a folder 'rtorrent' via the thecus webmin page and then an admin account for the rtorrent web interface but whenever I tried to add a torrent to it via the web interface I got permission errors. Do I have to use SSH to get this module working?
Many thanks for the module, by the way, it looks excellent. I just wish I could get it working.
ta, jbw

I've installed the module and can add torrents but nothing happens. This is probably to do with port forwarding but I've exhausted my (limited) understanding of how to do this. Any help appreciated.

I'll write a guide if you guys really want it, but I can't see where all the trouble is. With regard to nothing happening I don't really know what to say. It shouldn't have anything to with port forwarding, as even if ports aren't forwarded you should still be able to download and upload to some. You may not have defined your DNS servers correctly, or your DHCP may have given your thecus the wrong DNS servers. You can change this information under Network--LAN 1. Another issue could be you trying to download a torrent without any seeds (Ok, yes, the possibility is there). Try this torrent, Steal This Film II, it should have seeds. Just for reference, the wtorrent is very CPU intensive. But it works. fobking, uninstall the old and reinstalling the new should work just fine.

So, I thought I'd check up on those in here who can't get rtorrent to work... I'm assuming no responses means happy customers But again, ask away if you are having problems.. I figure getmythe will read this message, so speaking of torrent frontends I think an implementation of a torrent client people might like might be one like Clutch. ( picture of frontend here). Here is a link to how it is setup on a Synology diskstation. A very user friendly frontend.

Majority,
I upgraded to firmware 2.1.09, added the necessary upgraded modules and reinstalled others and rtorrent works for me now, thanks. ;D
What i wondered about now was whether it was possible to alter the config file to schedule downloads between particular times; so I'd like rtorrent to download at night when my isp doesn't shape traffic so aggressively and when no one in my house is online. I've had a look at the rtorrent wiki but remain uncertain whether this is possible or what the syntax of the config command would be.
Clutch looks great by the way, I'd be glad to see it; wtorrent doesn't always refresh quite right showing torrents that are stopped as ongoing.
Quick thanks to getmythe here, your modules have made my n2100 a far better box. All those modules I've installed work v. well indeed.

Hey stuarty, thanks for your response and good to hear you've gotten it working. ;D With regard to scheduling, you aren't actually able to schedule a stop of rtorrent from downloading, but you can limit bandwidth for certain times. You could e.g. set it to 10kb/s when you don't want to download. Scheduling download rate schedule = throttle_1,01:00:00,24:00:00,download_rate=0 schedule = throttle_2,05:00:00,24:00:00,download_rate=25
Every day "throttle_1" gets triggered at 01:00 and sets the download rate to unlimited, while "throttle_2" sets it to 25kb at 05:00. Using this the client may be made to perform a somewhat crude form of bandwidth scheduling. taken from libtorrent.rakshasa.noYou paste these lines (the schedule =) into your rtorrent config and restart rtorrent. They should then be active.

Having a problem with an error, "Tracker[Couldn't resolve host name]" and no activity. This has only occured since installing version 2.0 the torrents already running when I installed it are fine and I know the torrents work as I'm using them in utorrent with no problems.
Also cannot get wtorrent to connect to rtorrent regardless of what I've tried.
Any help appreciated as this is an awsome module for a great bit of hardware.

Brett, I have to admit that your situation sounds a bit odd, since you say it only has started since you installed version 2 of the module. But anyhow, it sounds like you've got SSH access to your thecus, so could you please try and type traceroute www.google.com you should get something like n2100:~# traceroute www.google.com traceroute: Warning: www.google.com has multiple addresses; using 64.233.183.99 traceroute to www.l.google.com (64.233.183.99), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 192.168.2.100 (192.168.2.100) 1.602 ms 0.791 ms 0.754 ms [...] 15 nf-in-f99.google.com (64.233.183.99) 114.350 ms 56.634 ms 103.902 ms n2100:~#
If it says something like unknown host then your DNS settings on your thecus are probably incorrect. Go under the administration page on your thecus, Network--LAN1, and please check that the gateway and DNS server address listed there are correct (ask here if you wish).

My Uk cable isp has begun serious traffic management which seems to have bitten me badly ever since I started rtorrent. I've only four torrents active, biggest 4gb, and am achieving only a quarter of the download rate i'd expect.

Virgin Media Right? They changed their rules in January.
I love rtorrent for this feature, it means that i never go over the download and upload restrictions during peak times.
