I'm using 5 Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3400832AS, 400GiB, SATA 1, 8 MiB buffer. I haven't had any trouble with these drives in a RAID 5. The N5200 had one firmware upgrade to v1.00.01.3 (for which I had to rebuild the RAID!). I have a sixth matching drive when I find a cooled eSATA enclosure I like. I haven't seen a N5200 drive compatibilty list, but this was on the N4100 one. www.thecus.com/download/other/N4100HDDCompatibilityReport-950310.pdf-ZenDaveR

first off- where did you get the .3 firmware ? I've tried 3 different types of drives: Western digital WD2500YD Model WD2500YD-01NVB1 Maxtor MaXLine III 250GB 7V250F0 Maxtor DiamondMax Plus10 250GB 6B250S0 I have 2 of WD's. One of them there an error (and a raid build using that drive was expected to take 3500+ mins to finish- ouch) I pulled that drive and am testing it now on another system.

I am using 3 of these ..... in a RAID-5 configuration.
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 750GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM
((I have had problems, but I think that was not related to the disks)).
Seems to work ok. Get a write-speed of 30MB/s (more in bursts) with a 1Gbs-link.

Three 500gb Seagate 7200.9's working fine. (with the exception of an unresolvable IRQ conflict on one of my PC's with a PCI Promise EIDE controller card that seems to have caused various data corruption.)

This list only complements the official list. New drives come out everyday, and I don' t think Thecus can update the list all the time.
