I have just started the process of replacing my current Samsung 500GB drives with Western Digital (WD) WD10EACS WD Caviar GP Green Power 1TB hard drives. The first one seems to have been recognised by the NAS and the rebuild is in process (approx 8hrs to rebuild). Will let you know if all 5 HDD's work once my long slow upgrade process is over. Please keep us posted on the progress :-) My WD 5x750GB is running out of space soon. Will need to find some way to expand

OK, well, the upgrade is complete and the N5200 seems to have no problem with the WD 1TB EcoDrives. I've already added the drive to the compatibility list on the Wiki.

To ask a silly question, can you access your files while the RAID5 for example is rebuilding, or are your files offline for the 10 or so hours it takes?
I think this is one difference with the readyNAS product if you use Xraid?
thanks

Of course the files are fully accessable during the rebuild.... Andreas

It seems that I am the first one using Samsung's Spinpoint F1 with 750GB each (or telling about that). I placed three of them in bays 1/3/5 - everything's fine at the moment all drives were accessable without any trouble, a RAID5 array is running

I am using the N5200PRO with 5x Samsung Spinpoint F1 750 GB in RAID 5 (4x for the RAID + 1x Spare). Seems to work.
I originally purchased a N4100+. HORROR! The N4100+ is so unbelievably slow ... Fortunately the shop traded the N4100+ back in for the exchange towards the N5200PRO.

Hi,
is someone using the WD5000AACS (Green Power) HDD in a N5200 System? I only find information that the WD10EACX Green Drive is working - nobody uses the 500Gb model.
Please write down if this configuration is working well.
Thanks,
Lars

Hello to all.
Isn´t there anywhere a really actual list of drives, you can use? I found a 6 month old list on the Thecus homepage, which doesn´t really help.
I am running 5 Seagate ST 31000340NS in RAID 6 (using 3 TB for data and 2TB for Parity) in my N5200Bpro witf FW 004.
These drives aren´t listed in any compatibility list, but I know that some shops put these drives into the N5200B pro.
Best wishes George
