I don't quite understand the different options, are they cache sizes per item? Are they all in MBytes? For the last option there are no units listed. Maybe adding some documentation would help, have a look at the Thecus Wiki. Meanwhile I packed your module in a standard container (.tgz) and posted it on my site. www.freeside.ch/thecus/n2100/N2100-SQUID-1.1.01.tgz

Good point about the documentation.
There is unit size on the left field.
Banlist Error Message, just changes the on screen message when you visit a site that is banned.
THe Disk Size is the amount of disk space Squid can use.
The Mem Size, is the the max amount of memory Squid should use (it does not always work)
Max Object Size is the largest fule Squid will try to cache. Large sizes can affect the way Squid works, but when downloading service packs or Windows updates, it can help.
My father is running a 128MB version and his performance is slower than my 512MB box. There is still a performance increase in using the Squid.
Other that your comments, what do you think?
Do you have the Hello World test module? I have completed my first WOL version, but it will not install. I have found a binary and created a web page. I fI can get the packaging sorted, I will have a first completed version to release this weekend.
Again, thanks for you help.

Hmmm, ... I've never heard of a hello world test module. Just take any basic module to start with, like the SQUID module ;D. As for instructions, just follow the module development instructions posted on the thecus wiki onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N2100_Module_DevelopmentDo you have the Hello World test module? I did that, but I still got failed install 2 error message.
Weird.
If I send you the html and and the binary, can you chuck it into a module?

I have updated the squid module to V1.2.0 Here is the changelog: Fixed error on Access denied small page Added bypass list to squid configuration page. This will allow the access to specific URL (or part thereof) E.G. Banlist has ".bbc.co.uk" and bypass has "news.bbc.co.uk" will stop all access to any URL with ".bbc.co.uk", but allow access to "news.bbc.co.uk" The bypassed pages will also not be cached. Added a list of default blocked URL. This will stop a large percentage of advertisements. Please remove if not needed or causes problems with web browsing. The module can be downloaded from: www.ilikeit.co.uk/temp/SQUID.modI have updated a tar.gz file to www.ilikeit.co.uk/temp/N2100-SQUID-1.2.0.tarFeedback and comments are welcome as usual.

can i be used as a reverse proxy to redirect incoming http requests by host header to different ips? i mean for example i make a wildcard dyndns, redirect the traffic to the thecus from my router, and then the thecus could forward it based on subdomain to all the PCs, laptops, and other stuff on my local network? sadly my router doesn't support squid

If Squid is complied with the correct modules, and you have the right config file, then Squid (whne used with Apache) can be configured as a reverse proxy.
I will not be adding that to the moduled version of squid. If you want a cheap SSL vpn box, have a look at the linksys RVL-200 or if you just want to connect externally, have a look at open-vpn.

Hi guys,
I was trying to get the Squid module, but I noticed both of the links are bad. Does anyone know where I can get the module from?

Hi Johnrbaker,
How difficult would it for me adapt this squid module you developed for the N2100 to be used on the N3200? Any thoughts or pointers would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Alidom

Hi Alidon The module may work, however the squid binary will not as it was compiled for the CPU in the N2100 which I belive is different than the N3200. According to forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42399The N2100 & N4100 use a Intel XScale 80219 CPU where as the N3200 uses a Freescale 8347 CPU. You are welcome to use my module template however.

I have uploaded the Squid module, plus others, to my site. www.ilikeit.co.uk/thecus/I do not have a N2100 any more so I will not be updating the Squid module. Get the files whilst you can. Please note that some of the files may be older versions.
