Hi, new to this! I have had an N2100 for a while now and it has been serving my home windows XP network very well. I have recently discovered the add on modules and created a public folder called rtorrent then installed rtorrent and enabled it. All OK so far. I then placed a torrent file in active and awaited activity.
None!
When I checked a folder to contain all the torrent files had been created in active but there is no apparent download activity, its been sitting there for a couple of days. I thought it all kiked off automatically.
Do I need to do something else? If the answer is SSH more advice please as it seems I can screw everything up using this. I am not UNIX literate!

Are all of the appropriate ports open on your router?

and on another note, are there any seeds for the torrent you are downloading? try another torrent, if you already haven't done so. Try installing the ssh module and connecting via ssh. (download a program called putty to connect via ssh) Setting up ssh is explained here I believe. Once connected to the ssh terminal type 'rtorrent', and the program should display. You should be able to see how the download progress is going with your torrent, or if it even has started. I suggest getting used to viewing your torrents through this, it does provide alot of info that makes it easier tracking progress on your torrents. Using rtorrent through ssh is explained to some extent in the rtorrent thread. Look there for any info or ask here if you don't find it explained well enough there.

Thanks for that.
I have opened the specified ports in the router for TCP and UDP, though I have not verified them, I will do that.
I have also tried a variety of torrent files that should work - I tried the links with Azures to ascertain that they could seed - but still nothing.
On the SSH front, it's the bit about flushing passwords and what that means that worries me?

Flushing the root password and replacing it with one of your choice will actually increase the security. You will get rid of the (currently unknown) default root password put there by Thecus. Just do not forget to change the passwd after flushing. E.g. log with user root and password irresistible then type 'passwd' to enter a new root password.

Thanks for the help. SSH now installed and I can log into rtorrent.
All torrents are showing the message "Tracker: Couldn't resolve hostname"
I have checked that the torrents work with Azures and they are OK.
I have opened ports 6891-6900 in my router and assigned them to the IP address of the N2100 - I am guessing this is right or will rtorrent have a different IP?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hey lyonacre,
Make sure that your n2100 can resolve hostnames/knows how it should connect the the internet. Type either of the following commands in ssh:
ping www.google.com ortraceroute www.google.com replace google if you want with some other site. Ping should give you the ping time to the given site, if it works. Traceroute should jump through a few different ips, if there is a connection.
If not then there is something wrong with the setup of your n2100.
Check the LAN 1 config page of your n2100, and make sure (if your n2100 has a static IP) that the gateway and DNS settings are correct. Turn off IP sharing.
