For every problem there is a solution ;D
As etch release 4.0r2 for arm is defective I reverted back to a 4.0r1 install. Luckily debian has a special archive site which keeps daily archives for severals years. The install may be slightly slower since the packages are downloaded from the archive, but at least everthing is working afterwards.
Re-download META version 2.3.00, install and activate startup script slimserver.sh.
Once installation is done reboot your n2100 and point the webbrowser to http://myip:9000/.
Change to the 'Server Settings' page and hit the rescan button.
