I'm trying to install Debian on my N2100 but having issues. The N2100 is stock with 1 WD 500g drive. Per Martin's instructions (http://www.cyrius.com/debian/iop/n2100/install.html), I configured a static IP of 192.168.2.20, loaded the custom Debian install firmware and rebooted.
Now I'm trying to use Putty to connect to the N2100 so I can continue the installation process, but putty will not connect. I get a "Network error: connection timed out" dialog.
Any tips on how I can debug this, or is it time to solder on a serial header?

Are you on the same subnet?

I would not be surprised if after loading tha new firmware your IP settings are completely different. Try something with 192.169.1.100 or similar as this is the standard that Thecus reverts to.

Problem solved...
I wired up a serial port and noticed the installer was prompting for a DNS server prior to starting sshd. After using the serial port to configure the DNS server, everything worked as expected.
So basically I had failed to configure a DNS server prior to loading the Debian installer.
