Hi, I have two questions. I got this NAS box for awhile now and installed two 750GB inside of it using Raid 1 (I know Raid 0 is better). But I having been using any of it features except for file storage. Now that I have everything setup and using itunes. My question is, is there anyways to play my itunes over the net such as using at workplace (NO COMPUTER ON) with the Thecus box only? and is it possible to use some program to update my ip...etc such as using dyndns or TZO?
thanks

I think as of right now...some one is trying to make a DynDNS module. I'm not sure, but you might wanna wait and see, but I'm pretty sure others here could help you more than me. ^^

My question is, is there anyways to play my itunes over the net such as using at workplace (NO COMPUTER ON) with the Thecus box only? Yes that's possible. You only need to install a "multicast DNS proxy" which tells the iTunes at your workplace that there's an iTunes share available at the IP address of your Thecus at home. All you need to do is install this software: ileech.sourceforge.net/index.php?content=RendezvousProxy-Download (Mac OS X and Windows) Open the preferences. Choose Add Host, and enter: - IP Address: yourHome.dyndns.org (or whatever)
- Port: 3689
- Host Label: n2100
- Service Name: N2100
- Service Type: .. (iTunes)
A share named N2100 should now show up in your iTunes. If the Thecus is behind a router/firewall, you have to forward TCP port 3689 to your Thecus. Mathijs

Hi, I think tyz is correct that program will work. I got to install and test it out I let people know. I also know that if we used ssh over that connection it will link the thecus all together. Does anyone knows if the dns services on our router can automatically detects the new ip of our internet? (Such as usign the dyndns updater, for example) ray

I tried this solution, but have been unable to make it work. I set it up as directed on my laptop when I was home. As long as I'm on my home network (where the 2100 lives) I see the share as I should, but when I'm not on the home network, I don't. Thoughts?
