NOFLASH has been updated to disable the downloading of flash advertisement! Each Yes Box will contact Thecus daily to download some flash based advertisement. Since I chose to remove the flashy stuff I also do not need those downloads. That's why the latest version of NOFLASH will now disable this 'thecus phone home' feature. www.freeside.ch/thecus/NOFLASH.mod.tgzDownload, gunzip, untar, install file NOFLASH.mod and enable it, done! enjoy

I've had several users report this to me on email (they download the module following a link on my webpage).
I haven't yet tried the module myself....

that's really odd,
I just created a new version and installed it on a clean Thecus Box without any issues. No idea why in some cases it does work and in others it does not. In case you have access to an md5 checksum utility: The last revision does have the following md5sum ad18bc09246caa2e13e54118969d48ae
If you do not have md5sum, copy NOFLASH.mod to a shared folder on the Thecus, log in via ssh, change to the directory containing the module and type 'md5sum NOFLASH.mod'
cheers

I think I found the issue,
after going through the installer code I had a look at my module again. With the help of vi I noticed some non ascii character at the start of the installer xml file (was not visible in my graphical text editor). I may as well be that this caused the xmlparser to reject the file for some people.
Please try again and report if it is working finally (crossing my fingers).

nice to hear that it's doing a good job!
by the way, the latest version allows you to either disable all flash code or alternatively to only disable the download of flash advertisement (e.g. will leave GUI untouched). Have a look at the options page of the module.
cheers
