Hi folks,
I'm considering making a SlimServer module for the N2100. One that simply installs the SlimServer (without webinterface etc).
I'm just trying to figure out how many would actually be interested in this? If you are interested, please drop a line in this thread, so I can get an idea of the numbers...
(No guarentees though that I will make the module...)
Cheers, Mikkel

would be greatto have a module for the all the people that dont know linux (i know it but) for ease of just being able to upload a module and have it work as what if u install it manualy like your guide and then with a new firmware on its way once u upgrade thecus makes it delete modded files

Hi, It would be nice, not only for those who do not know linux but also for the lazy guys who do not want to start everything over, for each new firmware

A SlimServer module is now available at www.onbeat.dk/N2100The GUI has a poor design and limited features. Only just enough to get the SlimServer running. Give it at try and let me know what you think. If you have any trouble or suggestions, I'd be happy to hear from you... Cheers, Mikkel

Cheers, Mikkel Thanks a lot unfortunately I got this error when trying to install: Install module failed since Nas type or version not match.1 Looks like I have an issue with the temporary partition. It is 63 MB and gets filled before the end of the installation.

Yeah, that error message can easily be due to lack of free disk space during the installation process...
Your say your "/var" partition is only 63 MB? Mine is 125.4 MB... Wonder if there are different models of the N2100?
Unfortunately the SLIMSRV module requires 2x42 MB = 84MB to install. (The module installation process made by Thecus could have been made smarter, so that it wouldn't require so much free disk space, but that's another story)
I might be able to strip down the module even more, but that requires some testing, since I'm not exactly sure which library files are needed by SlimServer. Anyways, I'll try to do that soon, hopefully tomorrow. Maybe I can also come to think of another tweak or something that might be useful...
Can I get you to do a reboot, run a "df -k" as well as a "du -sk /var/*" and post the output here...?
Thanks, Mikkel

I have stripped down the module from 41MB to 25 MB, so now it should be able to install with a 64 MB tmp partition.
I have tested that the installation goes smoothly and the SlimServer comes up. However I haven't been through different settings/plugins etc in the SlimServer. Though I don't find it likely at all, there still is a chance that some corners of the SlimServer have special requirements to some of the files I have removed.
Therefore, please work your way around the SlimServer settings and report if anything appears not to be working. If all appears to work, please let me know as well.
Best, Mikkel

I installed the SlIMSRV module fine, but how do I add Music Directory? I was trying to add my iTunes directory, but I think it failed. Should I enter "iTunes" or "/iTunes"?

in the module properties page (click on the module name in the module mgnt page), set the music folder to "iTunes" if it is your music share.
Then in slimserver settings set the music folder to /var/music
