I tried using the USB ports to access the volumes directly from a PC, but that didn't work. So I was wondering if I can access the drives if I put them into a USB enclosure.

If I understand you correctly, you have tried to connect the N2100 to a PC using a USB cable. Is that correct?
If I have understood your e-mail correctly then I can say that it will not work. The N2100 is designed to offer disk access over an ethernet network. The USB ports do not support network connections.
Putting the drives in a USB enclosure will not help if you are trying to read data that is already on the disks. The disks are formatted in a format that in not readable by a Windows PC.

You can physically remove the drives and put one in a usb enclosure. LInux should be able to read the drives contents natively, but windows will require new drivers to deal with the ext2 file system.
if you are looking to stream data off the device, why not just configure the bottom eithernet port as a DHCP server and connect the n2100 straight to your pc?
