Does anyone know the difference between the N299 and the N2100? For starter it looks like the N299 is going to be cheaper, and uses another CPU. Which one is faster? Does the N299 also support the extra (Linux) modules? Is it possible to upgrade the N299 to 512 MB? I have put some basic specs below of both the N299 and the N2100: Thecus N299Connection | 2 Intel 82,541 nets cards, USB connection | Max. # of harddisks | 2 | Hard disk capacity | 80/120/160/200/250/300/400/500/750/1000 GB | Storage capacity | 2TB | Processor | StorLink SL3516 32-bit SoC | Product memory | ? | Product size | 165×85×200mm | System support | ?, probably: Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003, UNIX/LINUX, Apple OS X | Safe authentication | ? | Power source | AC/DC:200W ATX power source | Performance Supports | RAID 0,1, JBOD |
Thecus N2100Connection | 2 Intel 82,541 nets cards, USB connection | Max. # of harddisks | 2 | Hard disk capacity | ? | Storage capacity | 1TB | Processor | Intel IOP technical 80,219 processors 600MHz* | Product memory | 128 (MB) | Product size | 160×85×200mm | System support | Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003, UNIX/LINUX, Apple OS X | Safe authentication | UL, CE, FCC Class A, VCCI | Product source | 100-220V,50-60Hz | Performance Supports | RAID 0,1, JBOD | Other Options | IEEE 802.11g/b the non- wire card |
* Change CPU Speed N2100 from 400MHz to 600Mhz upon reply 'spiken'. Thanks.

There is a mistake in your n2100 specs, the 80219 proc is running at 600MHz, not 400MHz. (IOP 80219, 600MHz / MIPS / 593.10 BogoMIPS / 80219 core, 32 KB data / 32KB instruction caches) In the n299, the StorLink SL3516 seems to be a 300MHz proc. (Storlink SL3516, 300 MHz / 400 MIPS / BogoMIPS / ARM9 core, 8KB data / 16KB instruction cache / Sata controller integrated) [EDIT] The N299, likes the N2100, have 16MB of flash but 64MB of ram instead of the classic 128MB. There is a new button on the thecus website near to the n2100 products called "3D View". There are more informations about the n299 which seems to be a lower cost product than the n2100. According to the details from the "Product Hightlight" button (in the 3D view menu) : - the n299 won't support the n2100 module functions, - the common features between the n2100 and the n299 will be the "http, ftp and bt" downloads capabilities (not possible yet on the n2100 for ftp and http) and the "simple surveillance for security purpose" (WebCam control ??).

Do these models have Printer Server capabilities? They were advertised with them when I bought my N299, but now they don't and I cannot get this feature to work, even though the manual indicates you can and has a selection in the web setup area.
Anyone using this feature?
