I have had the n8800 for over a year now in a sbs2008 network. I have a variety of pc's with one windows 7 machine. Though that machine will show the NAS, and I can map a drive to it (ONLY by using the IP address) when I click the network symbol for the NAS, it gives me an error message saying I don't have permission to access. However if I click from a xp machine the NAS icon it shows the files. I am pretty sure that its windows 7 but some folks have said it is the responsibility of the manufacturer and not microsoft to upgrade their firmware. I am using an old copy of the firmware version 2.01.09. Any thoughts on what I should do?

make sure you set up your windows 7 machine onto your WORKGROUP. By default, Win7 establishes a HOMEGROUP and will see your server... but you have to set up the WORKGROUP.
Win7 works fine on my Thecus NAS.
