Well I have an N5200Pro and this has served me very well. I have been able to play back MKV files from it to my windows XP system with no issue.
Yesterday I bought a WD Media Player Live. Whenever I try viewing a HD file I get a few seconds of stable picture then it stutters. However if I place the same file on the XP machine it works fine. So it points to the N5200 playing up with the WD (maybe because of the WD's lack of CPU and memory).
Are there any areas I should look at or is it time for a new NAS?

mmm I've had similar issues with a netgear 9150 media player. Not with mkv's bit with straight bluray rips.
A lot of these media players can't cope with much in the way of ethernet thru'put, but you're saying that if it plays when the file is stored on your desktop and played back thru' the WD?
