per the wiki recommendation here: www.onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N2100_Hardware_modificationsI picked up a silenx ixtrema 40/10mm fan to quiet the fan noise. I installed it in my 2100 and the system would clearly power the fan when turned on. but when I tried booting with the hard drives in place the system refused to boot properly - would just hang before the blinking orange light 'booting' stage. is there some kind of software tweak needed due to the system not detecting fan speed properly? the new fan is way quieter and seems to move a similar amount of air. I've put back the old fan and the system runs just fine (but with the old familiar wine again). I'm running firmware: 2.01.10 with no modifications. thanks in advance for any suggestions. -vas

Impressive, Nigel. Way beyond my capabilities, but elegant and functional.
My issue is that the motherboard seems to think there's a big problem when I plug the replacement fan into the fan header.
Has no one else run into this problem? Could it be that the fan is defective?
It seems to run just fine; if only the machine would complete a boot while it's running.
