Hi,
Need help on how to change the owner rights or how to make RW files I copied from external NTFS USB drive.
I copied files from an external NTFS HDD using both method (front panel USBcopy, and from the back trough WEBinterface)
The copy process went well, except that once they are on the N3200 USBCopy folder I cannot move them nor rename it. The files right are not set, and without any rights ….
By the way, can someone explain me how to MOVE files without copying back and forth trough the network.
Please any advice would be appreciated
Greg

Snap. I copied 250GB from a portable USB drive. I now want to move things into different folders. I moved one music folder and like you said it is using the network to move from one folder to another which sort of defeats the object. Maybe FTP is the answer. Haven't tried it yet. Will FTP in and see if move works.
Anyone else got any ideas.

Figured this out for myself in the end. this is a copy of a post I applied in another thread.
I use WinSCP. Turn on FTP on the NAS Connect winSCP using FTP Forget the local machine in the left hand pane The right hand pane will list all your folders on the nas Go into USBCopy folder and navigate to the folder or files that you want to move. Select folder(s) and file(s) Right click and select move to Enter Target i.e. Music will be /Music/*.* and Voila Moved in a matter of seconds.
Took me a while to figure it out but saves hours of network traffic.
Hope this helps. Shout if you need any further help. Its about time people started helping others on this forum. I never nearly bought this NAS just because other suppliers had decent forums and a good community.
