I am a newbie to Thecus, my N2100 is having two WD2500YS-01S with firmware 2.01.09. Few days ago, I got a RAID degraded warning, I would like to get a backup first before doing anything on RAID reconstruction. I could successfully install SSH 4.0.00, but I have problem installing or using the following modules!
1) META 2.5.01 ¨C Module installed (or I should say didn¡¯t install) but it didn¡¯t show up, I turned off Windows firewall, but it didn¡¯t help. 2) USB Backup and Rsync ¨C Backup module installed successfully, but UTILS 1.2.00 didn¡¯t load up. Does anyone know what to do with this? 3) USB Copy ¨C Copy is also fine for my purpose, but when I hooked up an Hitachi 320GB to the front panel USB port, it didn¡¯t show up in the USB Device List. The Hitachi is in NTFS, should I format it in another file system? and how should I format it?
Back to the degraded problem, status of both disks is ok, but Disk 2 was unchecked. Should I just check the problem disk on and let it create RAID again?
Thanks Patrick

Hi,
first of all: Copy your data to a secure hdd! Do this with samba, ftp or whatever you can.
After your data is save you can begin with recreation.

Thanks wengi for your reply.
I copied all the data to a hard drive attached to my PC before doing anything else as you suggested.
I think the problem was caused by a bug from firmware 2.01.09, literature from 2.01.10 says that "8. Fixed the false alarm of RAID status while un-plugging USB disk after one-button-copy". I remembered I did this when I tried to made a backup after upgrading to 2.01.09 shortly.
Then I upgraded it to 2.01.10 and reconstructed the RAID by checking the problem Disk 2 in the web interface. After 3 hours of reconstruction, the RAID problem was fixed and it became healthy again. I don't even have to use the backup data at all. NICE!
BTW, one side question. Do you know how to change the irresistible password? I got the following message after pressing Ctrl + T to open a session terminal, obviously I couldn't change it by typing PASSWD.
"Current SFTP-3 session doesn't support command you request. Separate shell session may be opened to process the command. Do you want to open separate shell session?
Note: The server must provide Unix-like shell and the shell must use the same path syntax as current SFTP-3 session."
