HI,
today I replaced the hd of my n1200 from a 500 gb 3.5" to a 320 gb 2.5" samsung. this because of heating and noise from my existing seagate. all worked like a charm and without a hiccup I was able to replace and get the n1200 up and running again. really cool to see how you passwords user accounts and such are still there dispite of the new hd.
But, I can't seem to get the files from the previous hd to my n1200.... I tried connecting the previous hd via esata and usb to the n1200, but the usb light will only go red and not blue, neither will it copy. it does nothing when connected through esata.... hooked to a windows xp machine it doesn't recognize the disk and Ubuntu only says there is a media disk with 500 mb of information! how do I get my files onto my new hd without swapping the disks in the n1200?
anyone?

never mind, I found the answer. I connected the disk through esata, but the first time I didn't connect it while the n1200 was off. I treated it like a usb port, hotplugging it, this didn't work. after actually reading the manual (rfm) I did plug it while the n1200 was off, but then it didn't boot. The n1200 got stuck, so I figured the esata wasn't working as a means of loading the previous hd. but three times a winner, it went of without a glitch, and have been pumping the data over from the esata disk to my new hd in the n1200! no to fast, but still
