Hiya, I'm just about to return an IcyBox IB-NAS4220-B I bought because I was disappointed with it. It seemed to do much the same as the Thecus 2100 just for less £, but I found that the WebUI was a bit shoddy, the firmware had not been updated since November of last year and no custom ones were available, and last but most importantly, when using two HDs in JBOD, you could not set any security on the second drive. You could lock down the first drive all you want, but the second would remain open to anyone on the network who'd care to look. Can anyone tell me if the N2100, or even the 4100, behaves the same way?
Thanks in advance

You can create ACL for different shared folders. Unless you enable the public access option, echo shared folder are limited to only to the user who have been setup to use them. You can decide if a user has no access, read access or read-write access to a shared folder(ACL). This is all done via the web gui. You cannot limit access to specific directories fromt he gui. You would have to use telnet/ssh and setup the premission manually.
The RAID level makes no difference to how the ACL's work .
