Hello all,
that the 4100+ has a bad performance is not new. That the bad performance is caused by a bad firmware implementation might be new.
I just read an article (http://diet-pc.wiki.sourceforge.net/thecus_n4100plus), where somebody tried the the 2100 firmeware on a 4100+ and recognized a substantial performance increase.
I real like to see an official statement, why the 4100+ is not having the 2.6.9 kernel built like the 2100?
Greetings
Carsten

Very interesting link !
So, according to the author, a newer Linux kernel version instead of the current v2.6.9 (on the n2100/n4100+) will decrease performance due to Thecus DMA rewritting (the kernel one seems poorly coded).

I think its more abaou a bad implementation, then about the kernel itselfe. Nevertheless, its unacceptable. I really do not understand, why Thecus is not pushing to have a better performance from the hardware...

That was an interesting read...but it appears Thecus is doing little to try and improve things. Mine will be heading to EBay.
