Not been on here since buying my N2100 nearly two years ago with total reliability, but decided yesterday to upgrade my drives from 300 gig to 500gig. After a few hiccups I now have rebuilt the RAID 1 array with the data copied over from the older drives, but when I check it out in the admin tool I still see the same size as the previous discs - it's reporting only 300 gig capacity on the array and not 500 as I'd expect. After reading a little further I've noted a firmware problem is known with Maxtor SATA 3.0 drives, which were the original pair. The new pair are Hitachi Deskstar drives. Firmware has never been upgraded (another issue I suspect I'll need to explore before playing around further) and remains at 2.0.0 So, is there any simple solution to without breaking and remaking the RAID, given I have no other backup location for moving the data too, other than the Maxtor discs I've removed (which remain intact for the present)? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thanks wengi, I did that one but it didn't seem appropriate, although I agreed with the suggestion of a mod. being created to do this. Also, I'm not confident with Linux to trust myself not to make more problems, so I went ahead and did it the hard way - rebuilding the array on the larger drives then copying all the data across my PC from one of the old drives. Took nearly two days. Fortunately had external SATA connectors for the old drive in an external housing, otherwise USB2.0 wold have taken five times longer!
