I have found a command line program, and I am currently writing the html code that allows you to send a WOL packets.
Is a Wake on Lan module going to be of use?
Before anyone asks, No it cannot wake its self :-(

A quick 'ls -lRt' did show the problem: non of your scripts nor the binary have the exec bit set.
I guess you are using Windows to create your modules. Well, that's a bad idea. Try to do the development on the Thecus itself. It will save a lot of headaches. You will also have to convert all your scripts to UNIX line endings now, otherwise they will not execute.

Thanks for the advice.
Yes, I am using Windows. I will try to sort this out on the N2100.

Thanks to the help from Getmythe, I have now uploaded the first test version of the Wake on Lan module. Currently you have to enter the MAC address of the target machine. I will be adding a hostname to mac address save option. I have tested on my own network, and it works on a Vista machine. Please note that Wake on Lan must be supported and configured on the target machine. You must enter the MAC address, not the IP address. www.ilikeit.co.uk/temp/N2100-WOL-1.0.2.tar.gzwww.ilikeit.co.uk/temp/WOL.mod

Hi,
I have re-uploaded the file just in case.
What browser are you using? I have just downloaded using Vista, and opened the file with 7zip.
Please let me know how you get on.

Thank you. The problem turns out to be, my XP Ie7 was downloading the file as .tar instead of .tgz. When I changed it to .tgz, it unzipped and installed OK. Since this is my first experience with Linux, a silly question. What does WOL do vis-a-vis the N2100: Can my N2100 now be awoken by my Xp machine? I am looking for some alternative to using the power button each time, so I can put the N2100 away in a closet. Sorry for the dumb questions, but this is what happens when Linux is embedded in consumer appliances.

Given that the N2100 draws 0.01 amps when off (according to my wattmeter), there is no 'Link' LED on the NIC (not really even a NIC, I guess), and if I reword your original comment to "it cannot be awakened itself" .... I guess WOL/N2100 is only for turning other devices on. I guess I will run some bell wire and a momentary contact switch from the closet to turn it on when needed. Can't really justify 30+ watts for occasional use. Well, that's US$27 / year, hmmm. Thanks for your help, and your work on mods for this fascinating little box.

John,
I see from your lasy post Thecus N2100 cannot wake itself on lan.
Do you know any other solutions (other than through this particular WOL approach) to remotely turn Thecus on?
