My N1200's fan had died several days ago. There is loop beep alert. When I opened the case, I found the CPU heatsink has fallen off. Since I have overclocked the CPU. thecususergroup.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=n1200modifications&action=display&thread=1186119015 Improving the CPU heat dissipation is one of my task. The original CPU heatsink is several mm away from the case, and plastic adhesive tape is used to adhere the heatsink to the CPU. I replaced it with higher heatsink. The black one is the original. Then clean up the CPU surface. The adhesive stuff is quite sticky. Then clean up the new heatsink. R hand side is the finished one. Paste a good thermal conductive grease on the CPU and heatsink. Press the heatsink firmly on the CPU. Paste the grease on the heatsink top. Fix the heatsink with epoxy resin (A+B gum) on 4 sides between the heatsink and CPU. The transparent stuff is the epoxy. Note the foreground header is the serial port header. I can feel the heat at the case now !! I may plan to overclock the CPU to 533MHz later. If you plan to do that, don't peel off the heatsink directly. Heating it up is suggested.
