Hi there,
I hope someone will help me on that...
I´m using the N1200 for several weeks now.
Everything works great so far.
Now, my music folder is completed and ready, I´m trying to
setup the mediaserver to stream my music into my LAN.
I´m trying use my old Xbox (running the opensource XBoxMediaCenter)
and also my Playstation3 (Firmware 1.93) to connect to the N1200
Mediaserver. I know that a lot of people using the PS3 together with
the N1200, so shouldn´t it work without problems?
Here is my setup....I´ll trying to explain what works and where my problem is.
Until now, only under the Xbox/XBMC I was able to connect to the mediaserver, for some reasons only under SMB (Network shared) Server.
IP´s:
- the LAN is working under 192.168.0.xx IP´s
- Router (Gateway) is setup on 192.168.0.10 (Internet works great)
- N1200 setup static to 192.168.0.75
- Xbox setup static to 192.168.0.30
- PS3 setup static to 192.168.0.25
Subnet for all clients ist 255.255.255.0
Gateway always 192.168.0.10
DNS Server, the next here in my town working without problems.
Cable/Switches:
The setup is running on two diffent rooms. My PC and the N1200 are
connected to a netgear switch. The netgear switch also to the router
and on one LAN port to a powerline LAN adapter (for streaming the
network into my powerline).
Another netgear powerline adapter is setup in the next room. Again
a netgear switch. On this switch are plugged in the Xbox(XBMC) and
my new PS3.
N1200:
I enable the mediabolic mediaserver on the N1200 interface.
Also I enable SMB Network Share (Workgroup is the same as on my PC etc.)
I added the music folder under the mediaserver setup, N1200 confirmed so.
Xbox (XBMC):
I´m only able to find the N1200 mediaserver (is it ther server?) under
SMB (Network share / Workgroup). Here, first I see my workgroupname and under the workgroup the N1200 music folder. The music playback work´s...also video when I´m enable the video folder on the N1200 mediaserver.
There is a setuppoint on the XBMC Networksetting, where I can place the
Network Workgroup Share informations. The PS3 doesn´t have this settings.
PS3:
I updated the firmware to the latest (1.93), when checking the network connection. The PS2 confirmed everything is o.k. Only the UpDn Service is
not available for some reason. I activated UpDn on the PS3 setup, but still
the PS3 tells me it´s not ready. Now....when I´m trying to find a mediaserver, the PS3 scanning, but without any hits. There is no mediaserver found. The Xbox still find the N1200 under SMB Networkshare, the PS3 finds nothing.
Internet and connection to the Playstation Store is o.k.!
I also tried to connect the N1200 direct to the switch on side of the PS3.
So no powerline between the N1200 and PS3...still no mediaserver found.
Where is the problem?
What does the UpDn Service stands for? And why isn´t it available for the PS3?
I now that serveral people using the PS3 to access the N1200 mediaserver.
Could someone please give my a hand on my setup?
Thank you....
Regards, Danizo
