The torrent client does not work correct. On my pc i use uTorrent. With the same torrent file the client start downloading immediately. On the N1200 it take a very long time before it starts downloading or it doesn't start at all , and if it starts, the throughput is a lot lower then on my pc (pc 150 Kb and the N1200 10 Kb). Does any one els have this problem .. or solved it?

Hi spiken,
Thanks for the reply.
On the N1200 i've setup my DSL modem as the gateway and DNS. The same setting i use on my pc with uTorrent. uTorrent works great, but the Download manager on the N1200 is very slow. Do i need to setup a portmap in the firewall (on the DSL modem)? Does the torrent client work ok on your N1200?

I personally don't have any trouble with the speeds, but more with the fact that it just won't accept some (good) torrents and it says that the port already exists (?!) or that the file is incorrect (?!)

Hi vos0827,
Post a location of the torrent that you have a problem with. I'll check if i have the same problem on my N1200.
Maybe there are incorrect characters in the filename (maybe rename the torrent file).

Hi Spiken,
Ok, i will try that, but i don't know what port the thecus client needs. Do you know what port number i need to redirect to my N1200? I can't find it in the manual. (i already tried the default bittorrent ports... they don't work)

The port number is displaying when you are downloading your torrent using the n1200 module.
In the n1200 bittorrent module, just click on your current download, you ll see all infos about it (speed, download %, destination folder, time to seed, port number etc.)

Hi all, I found the solution for the BitTorrent performance problem. I checked my firewall logs and found connections form peers to my N1200 (trying) to port 2706. After a short google, i found that this port is used by cTorrent. So it looks like the N1200 uses a cTorrent like client. They advice to open port 2706 to the "torrent server" ,so the N1200 in this case. They also say that if you use more instances, you need to open more ports(down from 2706). This is the range TCP 2106-2706I tested this and the performance is geat.. so this problem is Solved. I hope other people have some use for this information. Regards, Eduard

does anyone notice that when using the planner for your downloads, that one day a file is (for example) 50% downloaded, and the next day it says it's just downloaded 30%? because that means I'm downloading more then necessary, which messes up my ratio at certain private sites

I've just bought the N1200 yesterday, it seemed like a perfect solution for downloading and not using my main pc thus reducing the electrical bill.
However, it's not going to well. First I have set up the N1200 behind a Linksys Gateway connected to my ADSL Modem. Opened up ports 2106-2706 and tried a BT download. After several attempts it finally worked, however I didn't 'see' it downloading. It was just finished when I looked (very small file). Other BT's weren't working at all, so I connected the N1200 directly to my Modem, eventually completely shutting down the modem's firewall so nothing would stand in it's way.
Now, 9 hours later I have 3 BT files with the following data:
1: Percentage : 43.82% Size : 305 MB/696 MB Seed/Peer : 1/3
2: Percentage : 7.32% Size : 9.13 MB/124.66 MB Seed/Peer : 2/3
3: Percentage : % Size : Seed/Peer :
File 1 is the only one who seems active, file 2 hasn't done anything since yesterday and file 3 has refused to do anything at all.
These are torrentfiles which I've tested on my pc, they all got 20+ seeders and can download with speeds up to 100Kb/s at least.
Needless to say I'm rather disappointed with these results as the BT option was the main reason I've decided to go for the N1200 instead of other NAS storage. I'm thinking about returning it tomorrow and using a small pc for downloading and storage instead.
Any suggestions?
