on the Thecus server www.thecus.com/Downloads/beta/, dated June 25th. Strange, from the file name it's not a beta but it's in the beta folder... [EDIT] I have just upgraded to FW 2.00.00 and everything went smoothly. The only difference I could find is in the RAID menu. It's no longer possible to add another RAID, the button is greyed out. But it could be due to the fact that I have no spare disks.

I was told to try it as it should fix the slow AFP write times (I hope) So downloading it now and going to see what happens. Is this still a beta with no beta number, or they just don't want to release it yet? EDIT: AFP write speeds are even slower now 700Mb to N5200 1minute 56sec 700Mb from N5200 23sec Tried 3 Macs all the same. SMB still fast.

2X 350Mb AVI files (have tried Tif, EPS, PDF all large single file as I know it can be slow with 1000 file = 700Mb)
Connected via a Netgear GS524T switch, with different cables, different Macs, Different versions of OSX (I don't have a Intel based Mac yet to try all are PowerPC based) Don't know what to try.

WAN/LAN exchange does not work properly in FW 2.00.00.
If enabled, after power up WAN and LAN ports are not exchanged. If a reboot is performed WAN and LAN ports are exchanged, however.
Workaround: do not enable WAN/LAN exchange.

as long as this Firmware is still in the beta folder and in the same folder is a 1.0x firmware that is "newer" (according to the date), I'm not gonna fall for that

Reason the 1.00.xx has a newer date is because it is a new 1.00.12.2 beta version released after the 2.00.00. Don't know what they are doing with the two versions now?

That's what one has to think looking at it and that'S exactly what made me say the above.

Hi, I just discovered that Thecus has put the source codes (GPL - no ready-to-install versions) of FW 2.00.00 in the Directory www.thecus.com/Downloads this morning (NOT in the beta folder!) There seem to be 2 versions of FW 2.00.00 now, one for the N5200 and one for the N5200Pro. Anyone who knows more about this? Regards Joachim

But the size is 152 k - seems to be corrupt.

Ooops,
did not see that. Sorry! But maybe that's a hint on what to expect soon (2 different versions).
Did anyone try the 139 MByte file?
Cheers,
Joachim

Hi,
the two GPL versions (both corrupt) have been withdrawn. A new file (GPL) has been uploaded yesterday. In its name it says N5200pro_2.00.00_GPL... There is no .bin-file. The file is not in the beta folder.
I asked Thecus via the Hexus forum. This is what Thecus says about it:
"Current frimware is difference between N5200 & N5200 PRO, we are planing integrate this 2 version firmware in the September. Thus the N5200 PRO firmware can't using on N5200 in this stage."
I know that a few of you are running the firmware 2.00.00 that was available in the beta folder on the N5200. The only thing that I am aware of which seems not to be working in that version is the WAN/LAN exchange.
I am lacking the knowledge to create a .bin from the GPL. Does anybody know whether the GPL code available now is leading to the 2.00.00 .bin file that was in the beta folder 1-2 weeks ago? Or is there a difference between the 2.00.00beta and the new 2.00.00 Has anybody created a .bin-file from the new GPL?
Thanks in advance!

I *think* the GPL archive is lacking some non-GPLed files thus prevents factually making your own Firmware from the GPL archive. If I'm not mistaken Omega did elaborate on that somewhere on this forum
