Slightly perverse question in that I want to backup data from my n5200 to my USB hard disk. I could do it across the network to another PC, but would think it would be quicker plugging it directly into the n5200.
The USB functions it provides work the other way around (i.e. backing up data FROM USB TO the n5200). I've got the SSH interface enabled, so could I just address the USB device from there? If so, what's the best command to use (I'm not really up to speed on UNIX/LINUX)?
Cheers,

Razzleultra, you're not that perverted you might think you are ;D The N2100 users already created a module which automatically copies data from some specified folders to the attached USB disk (and no, I'm afraid not having the time to create it for the next weeks ). But, I can tell you how to do it manually. Whenever you attach an USB storage device (disk, flash emory, etc.) the N5200 tries to mount all partitions it can fond on that device. It is important to notice that there can be more than one partition. The mount point will be placed in /raid/data/usbhdd and is called something like sdf1, sdf2 etc. , so generally sd<drive char><part num>. The drive letter is just a single character and is assigned sequentially. So if you already have 5 disks in your N5200 the character will be most likely 'f'. The partition number should be obvious. Your friend is the df and the mount command. Using them you can see what filesystems are mounted. Watch for all entries having /raid/data/usbhdd/... as the mount point. Finally copying data from your N5200 to the USB harddisk normally is done using the cp command. E.g.: cp -r /raid/data/myshares/myfolder /raid/data/usbhdd/sdf1This command copies the folder myfolder and everything below (subdirectories to) because of the -r flag to the first partition on he first USB disk. But this is not enough: you can even access the local attached USB storage device using the CIFS protocol from your PC: just connect to the share \\MYN5200\usbhdd and then you can see all the attached USB devices (their mount points). Hope that detailed enough. Otherwise please ask again. Good luck Andreas
