Ok how to i do it, anyone know step by step. I want to connet my laptop to my N4100 via a crossover cable which i have purchased. the N4100 is set to JBOD . What and how do i do it..
someone out there has the answer........................

Did you already try to connect with a regular CAT5-cable straight from your laptop to the NAS? Many networkingcards nowadays have auto-detection of cable-settings.
Also if you don't have DHCP-enabled in your network (to get an IP address automatically), you have to set it on the same subnet as your NAS. For example: If your NAS LAN-port is on 192.168.1.100 with 255.255.255.0 you can set your laptop to 192.168.1.200 with 255.255.255.0.

I connected my 4100+ into my network today using a cross over cable. The switch can definitely detect and work with cross over cables and i did see the N4100+ on the network, but i could not access any of the drives nor the interface whcih leads me to believe that the N4100+ NIC does not auto-detect X-over cables or there is some other kind of incompatibility.
