Hi, I would like to know how can I create a FTP server with my Thecus N4100 and choose the repertories I want to share.
I'm able to share the whole Thecus content but I don't know how to restrict access to 1 or 2 folders. Anyone has an idea? Thanx

I have the same issue. If I use the ACL to restrict the user to one or two directories then their authentication fails completely. It appears to be all or nothing.

Does anybody have any answer to this? I am about to purchase an N4100Pro and would like to see a resolution to this issue.

Can you give a bit more details: i) where are located the directories you want to share i.e. do they already exist or will/can they be new directories? ii) are they directories in your RAID directory? iii) ACL-wise: do your to-be-shared directories to be shared with already existing users? iv) could they be accessed using new users i.e. users you have not yet declared? v) are FTP users new users i.e. dedicated to FTP access? vi) have you got SSH module installed on your NAS? WinSCP or ... on your PC? vii) version of your FTP module?
This idea is that you amend the /raid/ftproot directory to fit your requirements, adding for instance some appropriate symbolic links.

PS: do you actually need help in making your NAS an FTP server or is it just a matter to address the directory sharing issue?

SInce I don't own the device yet, I can't answer those questions. Hopefully the original user will still want to know those answers. As for me--as long as it is possible to have active directory users given read/write access to one specific folder for ftp and any folders below it, then I will be fine with my purchase. I'm sure it can do that--right?? I will still have other folders in the RAID volume that I will not want ftp access form the outside and just shared access to inside my network.

The directory tree and the association with users is more related to your requirements i.e. not to the machine itself. Can't you explain a bit further what you want to do?
The key point is to identify the couple (user - directory) so we can identify the overlap between the FTP access requirements and the LAN ones -hope I'm clear here.
