Hi Everybody,
I just got one of these Thecus n2100's, and so far almost everything works great. Only problem is the hard drives never seem to spin down. I've set the spin down time to 30 minutes, i've tried turning itunes on and with a rescan time of 1 day. But even after all my computers have been off for hours, the Thecus still doesn't spin down the hard drive. I was expecting the fan to stop sometime as well, but that is not happening.
The Thecus is connected to a Belkin F1PI241ENau ADSL router.
Can anybody help?
Thanks

What modules do you have installed? What firmware version does it have? What drives are you using? Are you 100% sure that they're not spinning down? I have the wireless version of your router; no issues there unless you've got a mac I have iTunes turned off and a spindown time of 30 min's and the drives spin down without a problem. The fan in the n2100 keeps noisily spinning away and if you put you hand on the device the vibrations feels like the disks are spinning. However when i access it through SMB it takes a while for it to wind up the first time which indicates that the drives had actually spun down. The web gui cannot be used to gauge whether the drives have spun down or not because it's not stored on the drives. It's stored on Flash. When you're 100% sure that they're not you could look at disabling itunes altogether and trying again. Then depending on your drives you might try and contact thecus and the drive manufacturer and ask about compatability. The fan will never stop as the n2100 has a habit of running a bit hot. Have a look through the modification posts and you'll see that cooling is an issue.

Thanks for your help dbridges.
The problem wasn't with the Thecus, it was me being really stupid.
The hard drive is spinning down, I mistook it for the case fan.
Sorry to waste your time!
