Hi Edit: Having spent a couple of hours on this and then written the mail, I downloaded the latest dsicovery tool and still no joy, tried one last final reset and it worked!! Now happily initialising the raid 1 config and discovery tool finds it no problem! Sigh.. no see how long before I break it again Had one of these sitting in a cupboard at work for ages with 2x80GB drives, other than the initial config i have done on it 6 months ago it has stayed in the box. Having a bit of life laundry regards PCs at home and have 2x250GB Maxtors that were now without a PC to sit in. So here is the problem, unboxed the unit at work and fired it up all worked perfectly, upgraded the firmware to latest v2.1.05 and rebooted happily. Took it home and swapped out the disks for the Maxtors and now while it powers up nothing I can do lets me talk to it. Here is what I have got to so far. Can't ping it, after a reset to default IP Tried the discovery tool, not found Have used switch connecting the device and PC and also direct cable Used Vista PC at home and then used my work laptop I had used the day before in unchanged config. Tried with no drives in the unit Tried with 2x80GB drives in the unit. As far as the lights etc go it all seems to be fine, powers up initialises gives a beep and waits, it shows network activity light flashing. The network port is lit up and when plugged into the switch It lights up for a 100Mb connection. Am I missing something or need to reconfigure something, realise there aren't many buttons or settings I can change without getting into the interface. Any help would be greatly appreciated, nice forum BTW glad to have found it. Cheers B

So, is your unit working correctly?

So, is your unit working correctly? Marty Sort of, seemed to be OK but have had a number of problems niow with the drives. Ironcially I went to this device to set up a Raid mirror to ensure resilience and now as a result of the array crashing I have lost around 10gigs of Video files and 60gigs of MP3 The drives have work faultlessly in a PC without a hiccup for almost a year, in the thecus they have managed less than a couple of days uptime. The array no shows as degraded with drive 2 being out, 2x Maxtor 250mb 16mb cache, not sure if anyone else has had an similar errors. Latest FW rel for the N2100. Am now off to build a PC as a NAS device as have lost faith in the N2100, pity since it was a nice solution but to dump a mirrored array and lost a chunk of data over a couple days just seems a bit too flaky for my tastes. I will pull the drives and do some diagnostics on them separately to check them and also the FW version for the drives too. Unless anyone has any commects or suggestion as to how or what has happened.

Hi!
I am actually having a similar problem... The units seems to work perfectly, the lights dont show errors orso. The network light next to the rj45-plug shows some network activity when I scan the subnet, but there is no answer from any IP but my own on the subnet.
Have you worked it out yet?
(I have done a reset to factory settings, but no FW upgrade)

Different RJ45 Ports? Setup Wizard? Network Isolation Test? Is it new or is it old. Has it ever worked. Did you change anything. Also, tell Thecus unless it's something that you've done. Product feedback is a good thing. To help we need this info.

My initial problem was fixed by the "one last try" at the reset. I dont think I had been reseting it quickly enough for it to enter reset mode. Not entirely sure that this is the case but certainly felt that this was the case.
Have replaced the drives in mine with Seagates now and it seems to be stable, I know that the Maxtor have problems with some raid arrays and dropping out so I am at the moment guessing the the problem lies with them. As this fits pretty well with the issue i was experiencing
Have the Twonkyvision Module and BT client running on it happily.
Not sure what the issue is but I cannot seem to get the SSH module loaded up, any suggestions would be great.

Hi!
The user of this N2100 claimed she has only put off the power when she moved the N2100 to another place.
I have FW 2.1.00. I have 2 WD 250GB. I have tried pinging through a switch, but the last attempt was trying to connect via a cross cable. I did this after I performed a reset (for more then 10 seconds) and tried on both ports.
I tried this with the next ip-settings on my pc:
IP: 192.168.1.10 255.255.255.0 IP: 192.168.2.10 255.255.255.0 IP: 10.0.0.10 255.255.255.0 ( it used to work with IP 10.0.0.78)
with none of the above I can ping the box.
The strange thing is that I see the green network lights on both ports blink every now and then, and there is some HDD activity sometimes (can hear the fan blow harder sometimes), thats why I said that it seems to work somehow...
I am starting to be afraid that the network-interfaces are somehow damaged or something... Anyone has some suggestions? Many thanks in advance!
Greetz,
Hekkie

Greetz, Hekkie So the setup wizard doesn't detect it either??? With Firmware 2.1.00 the reset may not work the way it does with the current firmware. I IIRC it may actually start up ssh if held down for 13 seconds. But that doesn't help if you can't ping it If all else fails there's the serial port option which (if the network prots are still functioning) will allow you to get in and have a look at the network configuration files and see what it's set to.
