just purchased the 2100 and updated to the latest firmware. 2.1.03 When I access any folders that I have set up with the YES web interface it is super fast and you can navigate through the folders instantly. The BIG problem is accessing any of the 2100 shared folders with XP via the network. Painfuly slow. It takes 20 seconds to just open the folder to see whats inside and then another 20 seconds if you have a folder within that one. You can imagine this is ridiculouse. Im desparate with this one. All I wanna do is have shared folders on teh 2100 that people can access. What am I missing?

Since no one is anwering, I will just take a shot at it. My office XP will behave similar to your PC. If I map a drive and the network drive is gone from the network, the explore window will become very slow to respond. When I remove the network drive from explorer, everything will become normal again.

Hmm, Im not quite sure what you mean by that. But What I can say is that the 2100 is definitly connected to the network, as I can navigate to it via XP. However like I said it takes forever to queery the 2100 in order to get a response to it.
Its obviously taking a long time to handshake and do whatever its got to do in order to get a response. It everntually does respond and you can navigate to the the files. But like I siad, lag times of like 20 seconds.
I can navigate to other users shared folders on thier computers on teh network really fast no problems.
This is really frustrating.
I have configured the 2100 to get its IP by the dhcp server (switch) which is fine, should I be assigning a set IP instead. Should teh dhcp settings mean that it will take a long time?
Any help out there would rock my world.
Peace

I set up my N2100 with fixed IP, and I never have this slow connection problem. I think what Marty means is that you have to make sure all the network drive has to be available. If not, windows explorer will check all the network drive when you use it, and the windows explorer will not respond until the handshake time out.

If it's any help mine displays this behaviour when you go into a folder with a lot of sub-folders/files.
On my music collection when you go in for the first time in a while it will show you the first page (the top of it) of the screen, then disappears, the status bars says 'Searching for items ...', once the Thecus catches up everything pops back up where it should be.
This process takes around 5 - 10 seconds on a folder with approx 500 sub folders.

I cast my vote for this being a problem with your PC.
Most software out there nowadays installs a lot of rubbish that you don't want or need.
All it takes is one program that wants to scan your drives and it will grind to a halt.
You could have a look at task manager to see if anything is obvious.
It could even be AV software trying to scan for nasties.
