I attached an Lacie USB drive to my N1200. I can only access it as read-only. Does anyone know how to get also write permits on the USB drive.

USB & eSATA devices are default to be read by all. Did you try setting ACL (access permissions) on that USB drive of yours?
I had attached my Maxtor USB drive to the N1200 to do some file copying but I don't remember if I tried to to write to the Maxtor.

I figured it now. The N1200 only supports FAT32 drives up to the old limit of 32GB. It would be great if the next firmware would support NTFS or bigger FAT drives.

I have finally got my Thecus N1200 and am currently in the process of hacking the usb.hotplug script in img to automount any filesystem instead of the default FAT32 mount options. This means I will probably make modules for file (file -s determines the filesystem type of a partion) and ntfs3g or fuse. I will post the modules or modified files on the wiki once I am done. onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N1200_Module:_Fileis the wiki link to the module I just wrote. I can quite happily automount a 41.5 GB FAT usb partition(read & write) with no problems. If you have ssh into your n1200 you can attempt to manually mount it and use dmesg to see what happens.
