Hi
That may sound silly but how can I find out what the root password is? Or better: what is the default root password?
I don't have a problem with the ssh module, everything works fine. But when I try to access the box with a different command like remote shell or scp and it asks for the password I can't get in, no matter what I supply.
I couldn't find much about root access in the N5200 manual or on this list.
Thanks

Why don't You give Your username - in this case sys - with the commands. i.e scp: scp SourceFile user@host:directory/TargetFile scp user@host:folder/SourceFile TargetFile

Yes, that worked fine, thanks for that.
But I was still wondering if I just have a wrong password or if root access generally is disabled.

There is a installed root password but nobody except Thecus knows it.
Even though it would be easy to change the root password, I didn't want to do that so Thecus couldn't complain changing their system in an incompatible way.
Therefore I've created the sys user with its own password. The user and group id of the sys user is exactly the same as the root user (literally zero) and therefore the sys and the root user are exactly the same.
Of course you won't find anything about that in the manuals as Thecus is not happy to see their users doing all these things we do here, i.e. SSH, etc.

Thecus should be supporting this kind of development in any way they can.

You're right, they should....
But even up to now Thecus is giving us the module management but they never wrote anything about how to create modules and how they are handled.
I'll never understand how a company how claims to be a "leader" in this area with "strong customer support" is able to release feature without any documentation and even the actual software 2.00.01 comes without release notes and documentation updates.
I really like the N5200 and it's capabilities but it's a shame how Thecus behaves in this respect!

Actually, with the source code of the 1.00.10 firmware they include a document on how to create modules, as well as include a barebone module called BASE that you can use to create new modules with. Just wish the would list this somewhere else instead of just including it in the source.
They have also included a couple of modules in case someone may want to use them. The ones that are included is MySQL5 and XMAIL.
