Anybody tried this firmware? When upgrading it responds:
Firmware has been upgraded successfully to version : 1.00.08
But after rebooting it reports version 1.00.07 again?!

I already upgraded to firmware 1.00.08.... basically no problems until now....
Did you install my IMGDUP module? You should disable that module before doing the upgrade. You can redo the firmware upgrade without problems.....

Upgrade from 1.00.07 to 1.00.08 worked fine, with one exception. I have the same probelm as I had with upgrading from 1.00.06.5 to 1.00.07.´- my users can't login anymore - this was described in this thread: thecususergroup.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=n5200firmware&action=display&thread=1171134454However admin login and login via ssh with user sys works fine. I have installed the modules: SSHD SYSUSER META TWONKYVISION INFO The last time I have reentered all users, but this time I wait - perhaps someone has an idea how to recover or how to search for the reason. The users are still in the local user list. I've tried to reapply them with entering the same password again - but it doesn't help. br Peter

Peter, did you make an configuration backup before the upgrade? AFAIK the SAMBA password files are saved in the configuration backup too. And btw., the firmware 1.00.08 has an user import feature which creates user accounts from a text file. Andreas P.S. But I wonder why it is only you having this problem....

Hi Andreas, Yes - I've done a backup, but I've not tried a restore cause it's stated from Thecus that the backups are not compatible between the versions - hmm, should be compatible at least to version -1, so you might be able to restore after an upgrade.
Seems the problem is in the samba password file and changing a user in the webinterface doesn't help. I've recreated now all users with the "/opt/samba/bin/smbpasswd -a" command one by the other. So I had to reenter every user and every password. Doing the command without entering a new password - and as far what I have read then the password should be taken from the passwd/shadow file - was not successfull.
hmm, no idea why this is not working.
I have not tested the batch mode user creation.
Anyway - if a user changes his password via webinterface then I have no chance to restore it - no big deal for me cause I've only a few friends on the N5200, but it's boring.
br Peter

Hi Peter, of course it is the samba password file. There are several utilities with the SAMBA suite to list what is in the password database (actually the database file). I mentioned the configuration backup because from this I could extract the SAMBA password file and just restore that file to the updated system. This was my idea. Still I'm keen to know why it was working for me (I still have all my SAMBA users) and why it was not working for you know two times.... Andreas

Of course, I was not thinking about this possibility. Where do I find the scripts which are executed after a FW upgrade, so I can do some tests ? br Peter
