In Itunes you have the option to play a song next in "Party Shuffle" when songs are imported in the "Library" folder.
Why is this option not available when the entering "Thecus 2100" folder that is mounted in Itunes?
Do I have have to import the files to the "Library" folder or is there a workaround?
Seems silly to me that you have to import all your files, when they allready are available in the "Thecus 2100" mount/folder.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance. Casall1000

It's silly, but I don't think it's Thecus fault.
Apple, in their wizdom, choose to behave a certain way with non-local files.
They've yet to adjust themselves to having customers with NAS, so for the next few months/years you're basically out of luck and might like to look around for a non-proprietary open-source alternative that can either do what you want or has friendly developers that will listen and implement it.
If anyone can suggest such a system, I'm all ears.

When you are in iTune's Shared Music >Thecus_N2100 folder, you can click on the File>Add File to Library, and these selected songs in the Thecus_N2100 folder will be added to the library. Adding songs to libray does not actually copy songs to the PC's HDD. If you open up the "iTunes Music Library.xml" in the My Music folder, you will see that song is added to the library with a location attribute specifying the location on the network. Once it is in the library, you can add the song to the Party Shuffle.

N2100Owner, that sounded useful, but I think I need a little more explanation (I'm on XP and find the Apple UI hideously non-intuitive).
In the "source" list on the left I selected the remote thecus library (with the little blue icon); then went to the file menu and asked it to "Add file to library..." which popped up a file selection box, for me to select which file I wish to add.
Which is not what I think you're saying should happen...
