This morning, my N5200 (I got RAID 5 with 5x400GB) freeze up. I could not ping or see it on my network and the display was showing the IP address and not cycle through the other information. So I hold down the power button to turn it off, then turn it back on, but now it's not boot up. The display is showing "Self Testing..." and it beeps every 10 seconds (each of the beep is about 3 seconds long). None of the status lights on the left light up, but all 5 hard drive lights are on green. Is there any fix for this? I would like to get my data off the N5200 before sending it back for a replacement. If I cannot get the data off the N5200, once I get the replacement, is there a way I can get my RAID5 back with all the data with the same hard drives?

Funny, I had this exact problem this weekend with mine. What I discovered that you have to actually do a hard reboot of the NAS (i.e. unplug it, then plug it in again).
I'm not sure why that happens and why a soft-reset isn't sufficient.
Incidentally, all your data should still be there.

I tried the hard reboot by turning the switch to the off position, unplug the power cord, waited for about 5 minutes, plug it back in, turn the switch to on. But still got the same beeps and "Self Testing..." message on the display.

Sorry mate, I don't know what else to suggest. Maybe you have a faulty unit that needs to be replaced under warranty.
If that is the case, you might want to mark the hard drives, return the unit and get a replacement, then re-install the hard drives in teh same order. Hopefully the Thecus will notice the drives were part of a raid and and you won't lose anything.
Please note, I do not know if this works, it's just a suggestion.

It's sounds like the memory fault ..
You could just try to reseat the memory before sending it back may just save you a trip
3 thumb screws at the back and the covers just lifts off - it's just standard PC memory

I re-sit the RAM and also make sure other connections are secured. But no luck, still got the same problem.

Have you tried to contact Thecus support? They should be able to tell you if you have any chance to fix it yourself. What you describe is some failure at the very beginning of the boot process. The LED's are software driven so it's clear that they are not working yet in opposite to the drives LED's, they are hardware driven. So either a hardware defect blocks the BIOS and/or the Linux booting or something with flash memory drive is wrong. But you can only see the real reason if you connect a monitor to the non-existent VGA port or if they would have enabled the serial console which is disabled by default (this is not Thecus fault, as the serial console could be used for communication with a UPS). I tried to check the source quickly and I think that if you insert your old disks into a new N5200, the software will recognize your existing RAID. But please try to ask Thecus for confirmation. Another problem is how to get the SAMBA configuration back (not to talk from all the other configs)? If you use the Web Interface, I fear that when creating a new share with the name of the existing folder, the folder might be deleted or this even doesn't work. I haven't tried this and IMO Thecus should be able to tell you what to do in this case. thecus: this is also something needed to be documented in detail in order to get that data back in case of a system failure....
