Hello all.
I bought the 5200 RouStor because I wanted the built in switch to simply extend my current home network. However it seems the WAN is totally segregated from the inbuilt switch's LAN.
In the future I might find this useful if Thecus add some sort of routing features in their regular firmware updates, but for the moment it seems I may have wasted my money buying the RouStor version. Unless of course there is someone out there that knows how to bridge the LAN to the WAN?
Do any of you know how I might do that? Would it require a new module?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, I've checked the source code: at least you need to enable IP Sharing. I don't know why this setting is grouped with the WAN properties, because this switch affects both network interfaces. Technically speaking, enabling IP sharing writes "1" to /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward and adds a iptables rule on eth0. But I don't understand the WAN/LAN change feature. For what do I need it? kevin: can you give some explainations? Andreas

Hey Kevin
Thanks for that, but I am clearly missing something. I have installed 1.00.06.5 and enabled both IP Sharing and WAN LAN Change Support, plugged a PC into the 4 port switch (i.e LAN) and booted it up. It hasn't been assigned an IP address by by my ADSL router (which is connected via the WAN port).
Could you give a little more guidance on how to configure this all? I am more than happy to write up a guide once I get it all working.
Cheers

I got this working.
By activating the WAN/LAN Switch, you have to plug your router into one of the 4 Gigabit Switches and NOT the WAN port. If you then plug another PC into one of the other Gigabit Switches, it will pick up its IP address from the DHCP server on your router.
Hope this helps!
Regards Brian.

Thanks for that, but unfortunately that won't do for me. The hub doesn't support jumbo frames which the WAN port does, and I use them.
I want to be able to plug my devices that don't need jumbo frames support (i.e. slower gigabit devices) into the 4 port hub and be able to access any device plugged into the 3rd party hub that connects to the WAN port.
I have bigger things to worry about for the moment tho and can live without this feature for a while :-)
