just got the thecus N5200 today, Its building the RAID right now. I'm gonna wait till its done before I load it up... been playing around with a few copies to test the shares I created and so far that all seems to work fine....
Can someone explain this whole concept of WAN and LAN ports... I am a network savvy individual and I'm not sure what they intended here. Is this thing a router?
I currently have LAN port on the N5200 plugged into my gig switch with an Infrant NAS, a couples pcs, mac, etc... That switch is connected to the a port on my WiFi/10/100 NAT Router.
Is there any difference between LAN and WAN interfaces.
I am trying to get e-mail notificaiton working and no go.
my ISP uses un-authenticated SMTP on port 25 (thats how outlook is setup and works fine) (they check your IP so if I am on the road versus at home I can't send mail through there server). but I can't get it work...
I saw Upnp only works on the wan port... is email like this?
Any info would be appreciated... Its certainly a little ruff around the edges compared to the infrant which has about every feature I see on the wishlist here but all I want it to do is stream SMB, understand the UPS, email notificationa and power management and I will be a happy camper...
Lets see how my testing for speed goes tommorow... This thing should be way faster than the infrant or my old terastation which is really slow...
BTW: I have the 1.00.04.9 beta firmware loaded

Hello ,
I have the N5200 long time, and their firmware version refresh very quickly . Now the stable version is 1.00.04.
About the WAN and LAN ,its concept will like router design.
But it have not support PPPOE.
"IP Sharing" function in WAN setting , it will help you do NAT from LAN port to WAN port .
About the E-Mail , in older version I have the same problem . It seems to be fix in the new version. It will not be block for any port. But you must make sure your network is correct.
