I recently purchased a N2100 and 2x250gig Maxtor DiamondMax 10's to go with it.
We installed the drives just fine, ran the setup wizard just fine. The wizard detected the drives and ran through the Raid0 build just fine.
We got done with everything and left it for the night. Got back into the office today to discover that the N2100 was no longer detecting the drives nor the Raid Array.
Any thoughts or answers to this?
I don't understand what could possibly have caused this. The drives aren't bad, because I hooked them up to another machine and was able to format them / browse them / copy files to and from / etc.
We were running firmware v1.0.5 and after this I updated to v2.0.05.
Do we need to return these drives and get different ones? If so, what would be the recommended ones to get? If not, is there a different firmware that might be better to use? I've tried every way possible to get this to work (that I know / am capable of) with only the knowledge that the drives are still in working order and that the N2100 was able to recognize them and now no longer can.
A quick reply would be much appreciated. Thanks

You didn't mention if your 1.05 firmware was hotfix1 or hotfix2 but in the change log of N2100 Firmware v1.0.5hotfix2 it lists:
1. Fixed the problem that Maxtor MaXLine III and DiamondMax 10 SATA 3.0G hard drives failed to complete RAID formatting.
I think there was compatibility issues that have been fixed in firmware.

I really didnt check firmware version before i installed it. But yes, the Raid 1 did get build correctly at first, when i ran the installation wizard again the next morning, it had the drives as "Healthy".
i shut down the n2100 to move it (just rerouted cables actually) and when i plugged it back in it wont recognize the HD's.
Thats when i updated the firmware to 2.0.5 to try to resolve the problem. I think i might have a bad box, and Thecus support wont contact me back.

Does RAID 1 get build correctly? Yes, the RAID 1 was built correctly and was listed as healthy just before we shut it down.

Question: - How did you shut down? Did you press the power button? or did you just unplug the power?
- Were you able to get into web UI to see the RAID status?
If one of the disk was bad, you should be able to boot with just one HDD installed. Try remove either one of the HDD and boot up.

Software shutdown actually, through the web admin console. Yes, we were able to open up the web interface and see the RAID status as healthy before it was shutdown. I've tried another user's advice concerning the removing 1 drive and trying it with just one. No luck there, and still no response from thecus on the issue. I'm certain the drives are good ... disk surface tests are good ... drives are usable in another machine ... It seems as if it were a faulty device, then the error logs would present me with some information right? The logs are enabled but there's nothing being displayed except that the device was started.

Thanks I will suggest you can try re-creating RAID, because your RAID were created in version 1.0.5, but which version had a problem of format HDD, and then you upgraded to version 2.0.05, but actually your RAID still have problem from v1.0.5, re-create RAID might solve your problem.
