Hi @ all, i have a few questions on the 5200B Pro device befor buying one.
What will be the power consumption of a 5200B Pro with 2 1TB HDDs plugged in (Idle/Active)?
Is the SpinDown feature working with the new firmware (2.0.1)?
How does the LoadBalance-Option affect the transfer rates?
Does it now support RAM modules >=1GB to improve write speed transfering large files?

I can only comment on the power consumption (using a watt meter), my 5200 Pro has 5 x 320GB Hitachi SATA2 drives. At power on/startup of the unit and drive spinup the max watts peaked for a moment at 120 watts but once things settled down and under normal access the power consumption was around 90 watts. With only 2 x 1 TB drives you should be using less power. Hope this helps....

Here is the power consumption that I measured on my unit. The measurements were made with a watts up? power meter. So far the power down of the disks does not work and Thecus has not come up with a solution.
Thecus N5200B PRO Firmware: 2.0.0 Drives: Five 750GB Seagate Barracuda ES configured as Raid 5 Measured power consumption: Unit powered off – about 3 watts Powered up, disks idle – 88 watts Powered up, disks active – 100 watts average Powered up, disks powered down - ? (unable to get unit to enter this state) I estimate it to be about 44 watts based on Seagate’s power specifications.

Thank you for your replies. 88 Watts in idle state would raise my standby power consumption for cpmputers and network by 50 percent. This is pretty much and would mean additional 100$ per year. Has anybody the opportunity to test the consumption with only two drives plugged in? Or is there a possibility to get the spin-down feature activated by linux console access ? According to the performance charts on www.smallnetbuilder.com there is no alternative with similar performance, is there?
