Ive had my n2100bm a week and it arrived with firmware 2.1.03 which i promptly upgraded to 2.1.06. I have just gone to install the mediabolic media server expecting it to be a module and its a firmware upgrade.
Am i shooting myself in the foot if i install this upgrade? Presumably it is based off an earlier version of the core n2100 firmware, and also using it will mean i cant use regular firmware upgrades in the future. (The modify date on the firmware is 17/11/06).
Can any one comment?
Also is it possible to extract the mediabolic module from the firmware?
thanks Andy

I think that you'll find that it's packaged as a firmware update so that the allnet owners can install it (they dont have module access). It should leave your firmware intact. Just because it looks like firmware on the outside doesn't mean that it's got firmware on the inside There is also nothing stopping you from pulling it apart and looking for yourself. Look at the end of this thread

Allnet's 2.1.06 contains the mediabolic server? I'm currently having 2.1.08.2 on my Allnet 6500. The mediabolic server is a upgrade file on the cd! You need to do a "firmware upgrade", which will not affect the installed firmware version. wengi And by the way: This works for Allnet and Thecus firmware.

Is there anywhere i can get hold of this mediabolic firmware upgrade? There is nothing up on the wiki, and the only links are through the thecus representative on the hexus forums.
What does this server support in terms of clients?
thanks

Mediabolic is available to those who purchase the media versions of the n2100 (and it's derivatives) and if that's what you bought then it's on your CD.
