LOL.
If this is the same 2.1.01 firmware that i am using, there could be a bug. After doing my file transfer performance test, i attempted to transfer my files back to the N2100. In the middle of transferring a large file using AFP (my N2100 is configured in JBOD), it hung. It became no longer accessible via network (i could not ping it) and the power button in front of the case did not work either. I had to resort to pulling the power cord off. This happened once in 2.1.01 and once in 2.1.01.4.

security patch is they have changed the root password Just login with ssh before upgrading. Start the upgrade and wait until it's finished. Change the root password to whatever you want it to be, and reboot. When the reboot is finished, press the reset button on the back until the box beeps. Now you can login again with ssh! Don't forget to add /opt/openssh/bin/sshd op /app/cfg/rc. The security hole they're talking about is probably in adm/setfan/hwm.html. Which has been removed in this update. I noticed it today, but they fixed it already. Mathijs

I m trying the new firmware, and I can't open the Storage->Disk admin web menu, I ve got a blank page. This has been removed, according to the release notes: Removed Disk Information from System Status. It could be found on [Storage / Disks] page. Although on my N2100 the page is still there after upgrading. Mathijs

Hi,
the new firmware seems to be working fine. Thecus did take most of the feedback from this user group into account which is good practice. One thing wonders me though. It is stated in the release notes that the NAS performance is improved, but only if I delete the raid and rebuild it again. Is there really no other solution to this? Transferring 300GB to another drive is really not optimal let alone that I don't have one as large and do not wish to buy one just for this purpose...
Any feedback welcome.

The performance gain is more noticeable if you are using gigabit network.

N2100Owner is correct. There should be performance gain even if you don't re-raid your disks with the new firmware.

Wow - there sure is a speed increase. With the older firmware, copying a 414MB file took me 74 seconds With 2.1.01, 41 seconds! This is with gigabit Ethernet and RAID 1 array of two WD 500GB drives.

leyton,
I have not played with the new beta (2.1.02.1) yet. I'll check with the friendly Thecus support personnel that i have been talking with.
