I have a share on my NAS called \movies, and on my web server Im trying to reference that directory but having no luck.
web server is 10.0.0.201, and nas is 10.0.0.10
what Im trying to get working is <a href="10.0.0.10\movies\movie1.mp2">Movie 1</a>
Any ideas what Im doing wrong?
Thanks!
Web server is win 2003 server running IIS.

Hi,
Is there a webserver running on the thecus providing the moviefiles? Or an ftp server? Simply "10.0.0.10\movies\movie1.mp2" will not work. You first have to decide how the files are accessed.
I would do it like this: mount the directory with the movies on your webserver and reference to the "local" files.

Hi Wengi, thank you for your reply. No there is no web server running on it that I know of other than the default admin stuff. I can https to the box if thats what you mean. Also its supposed to be able to be a media server which I think I have enabled.
what I did do is on the web server, mount the thecus as follows:
10.0.0.201 = web server 10.0.0.10 = thecus
folder named \flix on thecus
so I mounted a drive x: on my web server to be \\10.0.0.10\flix That works fine, I can click on it and browse.
However, html still wont work: <a href="http://x:.....> or any other variation that I came up with.
I even did a sym link (shortcut) to the document root of the IIS server so I tried my html to look like this:
<a href=flix\movie.mp2> where flix is the shortcut to flix on the nas.
Am I close?

Hi mates, what you're trying cannot work and it's good so: it would be big security whole if everybody could just access the files of all the shares on your N5200 without username and password - think about it. There is one technical solution but this would require manual modification of the Apache server on the N5200 and would introduce above mentioned security issues. bob: I'm not an expert for IIS but it seems that IIS isn't able to access files on drives or even on links. Ahhh gotcha. It almost makes sense, thank you. I have no problem password protecting it, would that be possible?
