Hi there
The NAS hardware itself works quiet nicely but when integrating it into our LAN we experience performance problemes.
The average data throughput in our 100 MBits/s LAN to and from the N4100 is mostly less than 3 MBytes/s which is too low resp. should be around 6 Mbyte/s!
We mainly use CISCO 2940 switches. Their LAN ports are normally set to 100MBit's Full Duplex, where the N4100 settings are unknown to me, most problably set to AUTO. Switching the CISCO LAN ports to AUTO, 100MBit's Half Duplex etc. unfortunately makers no difference; the performance stays low as stated (approx 3 MBytes / s)
My urgent requirement to the next firmware upgrade: Please provide a configuration page with LAN device parameter options such as to set a frame size, duplex mode, LAN speed etc.). Without such configuration options the N4100 is hardly to be used in networks with professional LAN devices such as CISCO etc.
If there is a way of setting the LAN device parameters in the N4100 already, please let me know as soon as possible.
Great thanks
Urs

Is 3 MBytes/s resulting from a large file transfer or a small file transfer? If you are tranferring a bunch of small files, the disks will do a lot of seek and thus the performance will never be good.
You can try directly connect N4100 to your PC and transfer a 700 MB file, then connect N4100 to your office LAN and transfer the same file again to compare the difference.

3 MBytes's results from a large file (approx 2.5 GB). However, I expected an answer to my question in regards to the network device porperty settings on N4100.
We have other NAS devices in place where you can change such parameters. In fact you need to be able to adjust the values to your company's lokal LAN requirements.
Is there a way how to configure the network adapter on the N4100, or do I have to wait for a firmware update?
Thanks for your answer
