For everyone's info, I have just tested a JBOD 2 drive combination using Maxtor 500gig SATA-2 16meg Cache DiamondMAX 11 MODEL : 6H500F0 drives. All works fine using the latest bios

No, I wouldn't recommend WD5000YS drives. My N5200 has 5 x WD5000YS in RAID5 and it has crashed three times in 12 months and produces lots of false thingy I/O error messages in the log. I suspect it was the 07.02E07 firmware in the drives. Upgraded the firmware to 09.02E09 and now hoping for the best.

My 4100+ has 4 x WD5000AAKS, configured RAID 5 (Firmware 12.0). They worked without any special settings and they do spin down (and back-up!) correctly in power save mode. Mind you, I wish I'd read this forum first before building the RAID, it took 13 hours. Apparently its a lot quicker if you log-out the admin console during the build! Still lesson learnt!

I am thinking of filling my 4100+ with Seagate baracuda 500GB ST3500320AS Enterprise disks. Will these function ok?
I notice from the compatibility chart some ES drives are now supported.

4xSeagate Barracuda 7200.10 750GB SATA 2 - ST3750640AS Work fine RAID 5.
Did have a problem with one drive where the array kept defaulting to a degraded status after the build, but I swapped out the drive with a spare of the same and has been fine for about a year.

I picked up a second N4100 Pro (buy.com had them on sale again) and I'm not having any issues using 4 x Samsung F2EG 1.5 tb drives (bought four when Newegg had them on sale for 2 for $199).

Hi Everyone;
Just picked up 2 N4100 Pro's - Quick question, does anyone know if the 2tb HITACHI Deskstar 7K2000 drives will work on this?

I am about to upgrade from an N3200PRO with WD10EADS that has been running flawless to a N4100PRO. I need recommendations for 2TB drives. I was going to go with WD20EADS but turned off with some of the stuff I read. Considering Samsung F3EG. Official compatibility list includes only the 1TB. Anyone used these 2TB Samsung drives. Any feedback would be appreciated.
