Hi, I am returning the N299 I just bought due to woefully SLOOOW speeds. From what I have read the Thecus 5200 range is going to give me the most comparable performance to a dedicated PC file server. Can anyone give me a recommendation for the 5200. It will be run with 5 x 500GB Samsung drives - 1 for parity- so 2 TB of storage which will be used for our small home office for storing regularly used files (a shared folder) as well as local backups (second copy at night) as well as to play downloaded TV shows from at night (entertainment). So basically it just needs to be as fast as a normal PC shared folder but with the extra nicety of RAID 5 to let me sleep at night. :-) Hope someone can fill me with confidence after the dismally slow N299. I'm happy to spend the extra money on the 5200 over the N299 - just didn't realise the N299 would be THAT slow. You get what you pay for! Kind regards Lee

Thats exactly the setup I have, the n5200 with 5x500GB drives. I just moved from a dedicated file server and the thecus is EASILY as fast, if not faster. I use it the same way too, backing up mail, jpg and other files at night, and serving video occasionally, and never ever any problems whatsoever.
