Hi,
Has anybody done this successfully?
I have a Thecus W4000, it came with OEM Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials. Server 2012 won't be supported for much longer, so after taking a backup (I actuallly did a P2V to another machine). I have had several attempts at installing various Linux editions. I've tried Ubuntu server, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Debian, and the results are nearly always the same, after the initial text setup screen, the display goes black. It may be a driver issue but I am beginning to think that there is some kind of firmware that is preventing installation of anything else.

I was eventually able to do this by disabling the gma500 driver during installation. I now have a Linux Server running on a Thecus W4000
