I ordered the header that some other guy who went with a full blow Linux installed suggested, I paid less than $5.
Interesting NOTE: To make it permanent, so it stays on for good, you only have to solder the non-conductive side posts, the individual pins will make contact on their own w/o any solder.
I will see if I can upload my entire gallery to Google pics, I have high details pics from all angles.
Yes, my VGA header stuck out a little. However, I have something from my case modding days called a sheet metal nibbler, paid like $15 new for it. I used the header to trace the outline it would protrude with, then nibbled away so it fit like a glove.
Now I can boot and change the BIOS settings whenever I want.
For those w/o a header, one could easily hookup a keyboard headless, then press DELETE when it boots and one could count the keystrokes to make the change w/o a monitor.
Here they are:
#1 - After you hear the POST beep, start tapping the DELETE key.
#2 - Your THECUS will not start booting if you successfully get into the BIOS. So if no boot, then you are in. 2nd key sequence is:
DOWN ARROW
#3 - Enter (to enter the ADVANCED BIOS FEATURES)
#4 - DOWN ARROW 4 times (to get to the First Boot Device option)
#5 - Enter (brings up the First Boot Device selection list)
#6 - 7 DOWN ARROWS (this moves the device from HDD-0 to USB-CDROM, if you want USB stick, add 1 more DOWN arrow).
#7 - Enter to select and return to the Advanced BIOS features menu
#8 - 1 More DOWN ARROW to select the SECOND BOOT DEVICE, then press ENTER to bring up the selection menu
#9 - 10 UP ARROWS to move it from DISABLED to HDD-0, then 1 more ENTER to make your selection.
#10 - F10, then press Y, then press ENTER
This will make your USB-CD drive be the 1st boot device, and then the onboard AFAYA DOM will be the 2nd boot device.
Here is my Google Link, let me know if the perms are set wrong:
