I like thecus 2100 ! A New User It's possible but a full mod may not be necessary for a one off if you're prepared to get your hands dirty. The spinndown time is set in the startup script /app/cfg/rc by the following lines The values for $SPIN_DOWN are 241 for 30 min, 242 for 60 min and 244 for 120 min. The following explans the values... For a spin down of 15 minutes you'd use 180 ( 15 * 60 / 5 = 180 ) /usr/sbin/hdparm -S 180 /dev/sda /usr/sbin/hdparm -S 180 /dev/sdbBy installing ssh you could go in and edit rc (edit with vi only) and hardcode the 180 value or you could run the following... sqlite /app/cfg/conf.db "update conf set v='180' where k = 'disks_spin_down'"That's the hack A META module script may do the job though but that's not my area

There is such a meta script available from user mshapf. Have a look at meta module section on the Thecus Wiki. Unfortunately I could not get it to work. Something is wrong with the sed syntax. That's why the script never made it into my META releases.

Thanks all for the reply. But this is my first Linux based system so i don't know how to get into the coding stuff. I don't know Linux at all So hacking in the thecus is not a option for me (I don't want to kill it ;D). Only now to operate the modules.

It's not that scary It's generally a good idea to install and enable the SSH module. Just to save you a lot of pain if something ever goes wrong. And don't assume that just because you're not playing around with it that nothing will go wrong. A lot of people have had problems when upgrading firmware and SSH would have helped. If you install SSH and use putty to connect you can cut and paste the command ( sqlite /app/cfg/conf.db "update conf set v='180' where k = 'disks_spin_down'" ) in and it will work fine although you will need to reboot to get it to take effect.

Call yourself Lucky!
with the help of dbridges description I was able to fix the broken script from the Thecus Wiki. It's now integrated in META release 2.1.03. Just activate script hdd_standby_interval.sh. It will add timeout values 10, 15, 20 and 90 minutes in the web interface.
have fun ;D getmythe

I'll answer the SSH login issue too. You can only log in as root and the password (after you've clicked the initialize root password button) is irresistableWhen you're logged in just type passwd and it will prompt for a new password rather than leave it set to one that the whole world knows The backup and restore is for before and after firmware updates because firmware typically overwrites the password.
